Jaw-dropping centerpiece with umbrella

Jaw-dropping centerpiece with umbrella

Looking for an inspired, beautiful centerpiece for your event? Looking to add a touch of whimsy and creativity to your tables? Here's an idea: use umbrellas! In this step-by-step guide, we'll show you how to create a jaw-dropping centerpiece that will add height to your tables while creating a conversation starter. And the best part? It only involves four items: an umbrella, a glass vase, river rocks, and some beautiful flowers. Let's get started!

Step 1: Gather your materials

Here's what you'll need:

  • A clear glass vase - we recommend one about 2/3 as tall as the stem of the umbrella or parasol
  • An umbrella or paper parasol - consider a unique shape or color for added fun
  • Your favorite silk or live flowers - go wild with colors and textures, but make sure they're flowers that have long stems
  • River rocks - to weight down the vase - just in case
  • Water - to keep live flowers hydrated

Step 2: Fill the base of the vase with river rock

Add river rock to the bottom of the vase to weight it down. Shoot for covering the bottom 1-2" of the vase as a stable foundation. Keep in mind that this centerpiece is better suited for indoors or non-windy situations. If there's any wind beyond a breeze, you'll be worried about the wind catching the umbrella and knocking over the vase. Not fun!

Step 3: Insert the umbrella

Open the umbrella fully. You want it to be nice and sturdy while you place more river rocks around the base. The umbrella will add dimension and interest to the centerpiece.

Step 4: Add more river rocks to stabilize the umbrella

Add another few rocks to the vase, around the base of the umbrella. The umbrella doesn't need to be fully upright if the flowers you're using are firm enough to hold the umbrella staff in place.

Step 4: Add the flowers

Now comes the fun part – arranging the flowers! Take your flower stems and start placing them around the umbrella shaft. Be creative with your arrangement and mix different types of flowers for a stunning visual impact. You can even let some flowers cascade down the sides of the vase for more dimension.

Step 5: Add water

If you're using live flowers, don't forget to add water to the vase to keep those flowers fresh and vibrant. Fill it up about halfway, making sure not to overflow. You want the water level to be just right to support the stems without drowning them. It's all about finding that perfect balance.

Step 6: Voila! Your show-stopping centerpiece is ready!

And there you have it – your show-stopping centerpiece is complete! Your guests will be blown away by your creativity and unique sense of style. Plus, it's a great conversation starter!

Let your imagination run wild and create something truly jaw-dropping with just an umbrella, a glass vase, and some beautiful flowers.

Have a big event? We highly recommend talking with your event designer about this idea because this centerpiece needs to be created on-site and can take time to assemble.
